I always wanted to be adventurous!

I have been troublesome. I have been spontaneous. I have been reckless. I have had adventures, most of which were inadvertent. They were amazing, fun, scary and hilarious, but completely unplanned. Now I am planning an adventure. Hopefully not the last one - as long as I get this one paid off! LOL. I hope you can join me on this adventure. First, a little backstory:

And so it begins! An adventure that I have wished, hoped and dreamt of since I was 10 years old. I always want to be an archeologist. It intrigued me - digging up the past. I wanted to work in the field and then be Curator of Antiquities at the Royal Ontario Museum ("ROM") by the time I was 28. Guess what? Never happened. My schooling - double major in history and anthropology - was not the career path I ended up on. The real kick in the gut was an advertisement in the Star just before my 28th birthday - for a that exact position I had wanted at the ROM. I carried it around with me for years.

No, I was not an archeologist. I was a litigation law clerk for almost 30 years. The research techniques I learned came in very handy. So did the organizational skills. I did a great deal of volunteer work to balance the karmic work I was doing on Bay Street.  The law clerk career was good to me, until it wasn't.  At age 50, last one in, with a couple of bad knees and restructuring, I found myself unemployed for the first time in my life. It was terrifying. I found consulting work for a bit. Taught at a college for a semester, but nothing permanent. I had to sell and restructure my left. I fell into a new career - working for non-profit housing Co-ops.  It has kept me going, and helping people, for quite sometime. It is good work and, even on my worst days, I do get to help someone. Even those who will not or cannot help themselves.

Back to the adventure! I am finally heading to Egypt. I am joining an Insight tour. I will cruise down the Nile, walk the paths of the ancients. Marvel at their abilities; the structures; the culture. I hope to meet many Egyptians and fellow travelers. I will post pictures and commentary of the happenings and the people walking with me on this part of the journey.  After Egypt, I will spend sometime in London, UK. Another bucket list item! More about that later.

I hope you will enjoy this with me. Take care for now - I have PACKING to deal with.
